“Memory’s Dilemma”

Our brains are wondrous things and can place us anywhere we desire to be. The concept of memory and its loss questions the validity of our past, present, and future. When you view these reflections, my intention is for you to imagine standing in these environments while creating your own.

Translating photographs and documents I’ve made during my study abroad residency in Italy into copper etchings, I am able to evoke a sense of nostalgia: The Iron-on Photo Intaglio with Press-n-Peel film technique with its inherent lack of details and imperfections, lends to an individual interpretation of place and era. The inks applied, warm and cold earth tones, further evoke a sense of loss—memories fading away.
